Dubai has overtaken London as having the busiest international airport, with over two million more passengers in early 2014.
According to Dubai Airports, Dubai International overtook London Heathrow as the world’s busiest airport in the first quarter of 2014. Between January and March, 18,361,820 passengers passed through the airport over the period compared to 16,035,600 passengers for London Heathrow.
In March alone, Dubai International had over 6.2 million passengers, up 7.5% from March 2013. Over the same period, passengers at London Heathrow declined by 2.8% to 5.7 million. The top destination is India (751,390 passengers), followed by Saudi Arabia (518,555) and the UK (460,529).
