Jafza’s expanding logistics sector

Management in the Jebel Ali Free Zone recently hosted a forum for its customers. They collected some interesting facts.

Here’s why Jafza has become one of the UAE’s prime logistics hubs.

  • An ideal location between Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport is speeding the Emirate’s logistics efficiency by up to four times.
  • Jafza is also attracting many new customers with its world-class infrastructure and absence of red tape.
  • The logistics sector expanded its trade volume by 16% between 2013 and 2014, achieving 2.2 million metric tonnes in trade volume.
  • Mohebi Logistics dominates in the temperature-controlled FMCG logistics sector. In 2014 its capacity here grew significantly.

US and European brand owners wishing to enter the UAE see Jafza as the natural hub, says COO Phil Showering: “Dubai and Jebel Ali Port continue to consolidate their positions as the premier ports of entry to the GCC. Here you have interconnectivity with Saudi Arabia, the largest market, plus ease of online customs processing, competitive pricing and high-frequency sea and air services.”
